Part 3 was getting a little long, so like was suggested I started a new thread. :D

Not much new going on here. I tried to get the push mower started and couldn't. So I guess we are back to having no mower at all again. The riding mower has been broke down all year and a good part of last year too. I need to just fence off the rest of the yard for the goats and be done with it I think. Because we sure can't keep a mower running.

Abby has found her new favorite spot, up on top of the hay. She is a strange dog that likes to get climb up as high up as she can, sometimes I think she thinks she is a goat. :D

Morning, not much going on here either. Seem to stay constantly busy though.
We finally have had a few days without rain. About 7 straight in a row :D Things are drying out nicely.
I know what you mean about mowers Jennifer! Finally got our push mower up and running then ran out of gas :? Have to drive 20 something miles to get gas, it can wait til our next trip into town. We have been discussing getting a couple wethered lambs to turn loose in the yard. The goats don't seem to be interested in lawn mowing but they love tree trimming.

How is everyone doing? Well the guys that have been cutting some walnut trees on our property didn't show up today like they were supposed too and they didn't call either. When they came by wanting to cut Walnut trees on our place they said they would be able to get it done in two days, but that is kind of hard to do when you only work 3 hours a day or less. It wouldn't be such a big deal except we are having to keep the goats penned up. If I would have known they were not going to show up at all today I could have let the goats out for the day. I did get to let them out yesterday while they were not here and the goats sure had a blast playing on all the logs and eating the tree leaves they have only been able to look up at and dream about for years.

 How's everyone?

Maybe it's too hot for them to work Jennifer  Know it has to be frustrating. I would have been  The least they could have done was call!

We had storms come thru yesterday. Was a relief this time, the temps dropped down to the 60's with the cool front after the storms. Was wonderful.

Green beans are taking off like crazy, picked, snapped and put up about 4 gallons so far. Been picking blackberries, cucumbers, jalapenos and peppers. Tomatoes are slow going this year due to the heavy rains.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Things have been hectic and busy here, finished my Motorcycle safety class and got myself a sweet little Rebel to run around town on 60+mpg.
The 4H meat goat show is tonight in Erie there are appox 70 goats there! Record number for the county we'll go see how it is. We have 2 we sold that will show.
Garden is doing o.k. I did not plant enough beans it looks like to put any up, but we'll see, maybe they will start producing more than a meal at a time. I've had a tomato here and there, with it looking like this week they will start really coming on.
Take care, stay cool everyone!
Leah

I'm going to Leah's house to eat!!
We have started the arduous task of getting the place we are moving to ready. We aren't able to get started on the house yet, so are doing the back breaking work of trying to get things ready for goats and sundry other animals. The basic "bones" for pens, shelters, etc. are there, but YEARS of overgrowth, LOTS of old trash (I suppose some would call them treasures!), etc. etc. that all needs to be tackled, then some pen alterations, fencing, electric fencing, etc. etc. Seems like every 10 years I take on a new "project place." I'm insane. A friend told me I have the same syndrome as abused spouses and can't break the cycle. Hmmmmm..........

Ugh! I know! Wish it could be 70 - 80 degrees all the time! But if I have to take one, I will still take this heat over the cold!

Our prairie hay was baled today. We also picked up a heavy duty single garden type swing frame for hopefully using to weigh the goats with. I have the scale and sling, just needed a frame. Jamey has set up a simple pulley on it, so we will see how it works. If it works well I will try to post some pictures.

Jen - Will be interested to see how it works and how you set it up. We have the scale, sling, pulley, winch set up in the alleyway for the cattle, but when we move I won't have that set up any more and have been tryig to figure out an easy and cheap way to do it at the new place. Never thought of your idea and happen to have one of those swng frames laying around! Let us know how it works for you.

Leah how did your wethers doin the 4H show?

Well we used the sling and weighed some goats today. Everything worked great except the sling, it was one that was supposed to be big enough for calves, and it did work great for the kids under 80lbs but with the adult goats we found they would tend to tip forward or backwards some and as soon as they would tip they would start to slip out. We were able to fix that by also attaching an old nylon belt behind them. It actually worked pretty good (once we figured out the belt trick) but it was more of a 2 person job than I expected. So I wasn't able to get any pictures of any goats getting weighed but I did get some of the frame..etc. Will try to post them tomorrow if they turned out ok.

The goats did well, the one I sold that was 7.5 wks old and I was worried he make wt and be too young was 67lbs I think and got 3rd Blue in his wt class.
The other which was a really nice FB got a bit fat, But the boy (first time showing) got Grand Champion Showmanship with him. He did a really nice job and the goat worked well for him.
It was crazy there the kids were showing past midnight, ridiculous!

It sure is chilly outside tonight! There won't be very many warm days left. Boy, summer sure seemed to go by fast. I don't know if it is because I have been so busy or what but it barely feels like we even had a summer this year.

We went and picked up our new Boer buck today. Other than having to wait on road construction for 30 minutes straight (at least!) on the way up there it was a nice trip and a nice day! When we stopped at the quick stop on the way home while I ran inside I guess a lady got out of a little green compact car and wanted to take a picture of our goat. Jamey told her she could, and as she left she said "Sorry I don't have any paper for you!" Jamey didn't know what she meant, but when he told me I said "ah..she has seen the AFLAC commercial!" (It has a goat eating paper in case you haven't seen it) Our neighbor with the coon hounds drove by earlier, he isn't on our property but I can hear them in the distance now. So can our dogs, they haven't stopped barking yet!

Hi Leah! Are you still canning? I posted a picture of him in the member's picture section of the board. It was raining again here earlier today. I guess I will work on housework today with this yucky weather.

Hey Dona? How is the move going?
