In case some of you did not notice there is a calendar on this board for your use in posting horse shows, goat shows, fairs or any events happening in Kansas or neighboring states that might be of interest to Kansas farmers and homesteaders. The calendar is located at the top of the board, right under the logo. Click on the word "Calendar" at the top of the board and it will take you to it. Members are welcome and encouraged to post events they know are happening in this area to the calendar. We just ask that the either the date & time be confirmed or contact info provided so people can verify when & where it is happening & make sure it has not been canceled before loading up their animals. Events posted must be validated first so if they don't show up immediantly to the calendar that is why but they will be posted once they are validated.

If you know of an event but don't want to mess with using the calendar function feel free to post it to this thread and a moderator or I will ad it to the calendar for you. :D Thank you.

The following event has been added to the Calendar.

June 14-15,2008 Boon Companions Goat Club has revised our show weekend. Our Triple Crown Show will be held June 14 and 15, 2008 in Sedalia, MO. We will still be at the State Fairgrounds but move over to the Swine Pavilion which has better pens and more space. We will have a 2-ring show on Saturday for Sr does and Jr does (separately sanctioned) and judges will be Ed Jodlowski and Karen Smith. On Sunday we will have showmanship followed by one show for Sr & Jr does (separately sanctioned) and judge will be Tim Flickinger. We've applied for 3 specialities. All breeds ADGA sanctioned; ND's, togg's and nubian's will be AGS sanctioned. Saturday evening we will have a fun goat/handler costume class open to all! We're hoping to have a concession stand on site and a raffle and vendor tables available. If you have any questions please contact:

The following event has been added to the Calendar. Even though it isn't in KS or it's neighboring states, this was shared with me by Southard Farm here and I am so glad she did because it sounds like an important event for small-farmers everywhere in the country and a great opportunity for them to speak with their legislators on issues important to all small farmers. Thought it might be of interest to members here as well. Thanks Jama!

Nora of Washington, DC, Amish farmers from Pennsylvania, area chefs and caterers, and numerous individuals. In addition, farmers from around the country donated food that local families, including many Weston A. Price Foundation members, prepared and brought. This is a showcase for the food we advocate. Let''s feed our legislators!

SF Thanks for posting the Meat Goat Conference for me on this thread and the Calendar. Hope some of the folks on this group will be able to attend. If my daughter wasn't due here from Seattle that weekend, I would definitely hot foot it out there.
I have heard Dr. Hart Speak before and he is quite interesting and entertaining.

Seminole Wind--tired of all this snow.

I have taken the FAMACHA class by Dr. Sparks and Dr. Hart (and actually bought 2 does from Dr. Sparks this fall!!) and they both ran seminars and hands on training at the 3 day boot camp I attended in Ada, OK this past fall (where among other things the things they are presenting at this conference were taught). Both are EXTREMELY informational and fun to be with. I hope anyone out there who can attend will. What I learned was invaluable.

Jama let me know about this meeting in Arkansas, it is now posted to the calendar as well; an important meeting for anyone living in Arkansas that raises animals. Thanks for letting us know about it Jama!

Subject: [DISTRICT5NEWS] Reminder for those in Arkansas

This is a reminder for those in Arkansas to come to the big statewide
open to the public meeting on March 2, 2008, Sunday, 3 to 6 p.m. at
the Atkins High School Auditorium just south of I-40.

Sponsored by the Arkansas Animal Producer's Association. Special speakers
include Doreen Hannes who will speak about the National Animal Identification
System and what's been happening lately; Rep. Roy Ragland on our
Freedom to Farm Act bill and what we need to do to get it passed into
law this next January.

Others are also lined up to speak about our work in the Quorum Courts, etc.
The American Voice internet radio people will be there to talk about our weekly program,
The ARAPA Hour. All Arkansas legislators have been invited; tables for
organizations such as R-CALF will be set up.

Children are welcome.

This seats 1,000 people - we'll have plenty of room and the parking
is wonderful. Please help us spread the word all over the state. Put
up notices at your local feed stores, sale barns, vet offices, etc.
Bring a truck full of neighbors with you. This meeting is very
important to our future as animal owners.

If you do not live in Arkansas but you know someone who does, please
encourage them to attend this meeting.
