This place is for members to share all their favorite pictures. It could be of you, your pets, livestock or just the view from your front porch. We do ask that everyone reduce the size of pictures posted to 400 x 400 pixels or less to save space on the board. If you need any help reducing the size of a large picture just let me know, I would be happy to help you with that. Thank you!

If you have the program Paint on your computer here is an easy way to reduce the file size of pictures.

1. Find a file of a picture you want to use on your computer.

2. Then right mouse click on it.......this will bring up a drop down menu........scroll down until you come to the words "Open with"...move your mouse until your pointer arrow is over those words......this will highlight them and bring up a second drop-down menu where you can choose a program to open the picture in......Click on "Paint"

3. That will bring up your picture in the Paint program............click on the word "Image" at the top of the screen.........this will bring up a drop down menu....go down it and click on "stretch/skew".

4. That will bring up a box with two places where it says horizontal 100% and Vertical 100%..........Reduce the % in both boxes the same.........if your picture is really big you might try backspacing to clear out both boxes and put in 50% in both the horizontal box & the Vertical box..........then just click "OK"........your picture has been reduced!

5. If you want to keep the original, larger picture don't forget to save the new reduced one under a different file name......which you would do in the Paint program by clicking on "File" at the top of the screen and then on "Save As" and entering a different name, make sure the file type is jpg. If you just click save the new reduced picture will be saved in place of the old one and you will lose the larger picture.

6. Remember what filename you saved the new smaller picture under and just click on it when using the "Browse" function here. This will ad your new smaller picture to your post here. Or you can just email the picture to me and I would be happy to reduce the size of it for you and email it back to you or post it for you. :D

Thank you for letting me know you couldn't see them. What is probably happening is when you come to the board to view the pictures you are not logged in. For some reason guests (people that are not logged in with their member name & password) can't see the pictures, only the text. It was that way for me but when I logged in under my screen name I could see the pictures. I am guessing you can see the text but not the pictures? Try viewing them while logged in and let me know if you can see them that way.

I tried that and made my picture 50% if the size and it said it was still too big?
I'm running to town I'll try it again in a bit.

Hi Leah, If they are very large you might have to go back and reduce them even again. The pictures I reduced for you I believe I reduced them by 50% to start, then I cropped in closer to the goats (you don't have to do that I just did) and I reduced them again by by going back to stretch/skew on the already reduced picture. The second time I reduced them by 40% (I went back and put 60% in the boxes) I usually only have to reduce the pictures my camera takes by 50% once, but your camera takes very beautiful, detailed pictures so the file size is quite large so I had to reduce them twice. It is one of those things you have to play around with until you get them the size you want. But I will give you a few ways of seeing what size your picture is in demensions and KB though.

One easy way to see if they are small enough is to reduce the picture and go ahead and save it. Then go to that file on your computer and rest your pointer arrow over it and a yellow box will come up that will say it's deminsions. Or you could right mouse click on the picture file, which will bring up a drop down menu, go down to "Properties" and click on it. This will bring up the properties of the picture and with that it will tell you in KB how big the picture is. Depending on the picture but ususally if it is less than 50 or 60KB it is going to be small enough. After you do a few you will just kind of get an eye for if they are going to be small enough by how large the picture appears in Paint. I hope that helps, if that doesn't work for you let me know and I will help. Or feel free to email pictures you want reduced in size to me, I am happy to do that for you too.

PS- another easy way to see the size pictures on your computer are is to go inside the folder where you keep your pictures at. Go up to the funny looking little box icon at the top after the "Back" "Search" and "Folders" icons. It has a small black arrow beside it. Click on that arrow and a drop down menu will come up that says thumbnails, tiles etc. Go down and click on the word "Details" in that drop down menu. This will change how your files appear in that folder from icons to a list with the "details" of each picture. Including the size and demension. If you want to change it back just go back to that box & drop down menu and click on what it was set at before.
